Why exactly did I think I could go an entire month without eating processed food? And what the heck counts as “processed” anyway? I didn’t consider these questions when I embarked upon December’s challenge, so I’ve had to make a few adjustments. For example, in my word, orange juice is not processed. And every once in a while, neither is really really dark chocolate. Oh, and neither are sweet potato fries. Whatever, my world, my rules.
Seriously, though, this has been hard. I actually ate pasta today. That’s probably the most processed thing I’ve eaten all month. It doesn’t help that Roy is in town and making the best food ever. EVER. So when he makes pesto from scratch, I don’t count that as processed either.
I’ve had to take quite a few days off, but I’m up to week 6 of the Couch 2 5K running program. That means I actually ran for 20 minutes without stopping last week and I’ll run for 25 minutes tomorrow. I tend to use the fact that I ran as an excuse to eat tremendous amounts of food, so I’ll have to work on that. For now, I’m just focused on getting through the program without fainting or vomiting (which, believe me, I have come very close to doing).
What should January’s challenge entail? Check back in a few days to discover what I decide.
